It really looks like Staurochilus ionosmus rather than S. lunchuensis.

Vanda lamellata var boxallii

Because of erratic weather, there are only 12 spikes this year. Last year there were more than 20. Still it is a sight to behold the classic boxallii variant. Very fragrant.

This plant surprised me with eight spikes. The floral characteristics are in between the remediosae and boxallii variants. Very fragrant.

Phalaenopsis equestris var rosea (Ilocos)

In the Philippines, this variety comes from extreme northern Luzon. In contrast to the usual P. equestris, they have bright pink floral parts, which makes them very attractive. The plants are smaller than the usual P. equestris.

Flickingeria fimbriata - many times ignored!

Probably because it is very common, can grow like a weed, and its blooms last only for a day. However, when it does bloom like this plant with multiple flowers, it can be a sight to behold.

Aerides inflexa dark pink color form

One of my most favorite plants. The color is very striking, and very fragrant. It is probably found in  a number of Philippine locations; I just do not know where.

Bulbophyllum facetum

In my opinion, possibly the most beautiful Bulbophyllum. Endemic to the Philippine Cordilleras.

Cirrhopetalum (Bulbophyllum) trisetum

This plant was from Negros island. It has a number of synonyms (Bulbophyllum clavigerum [Fitz.] F. Mueller 1884; Bulbophyllum kenejianum Schltr. 1913; Bulbophyllum layardii [F. The generic name depends on whether you are a splitter (Cirrhopetalum), or a lumper (Bulbophyllum, from section Cirrhopetalum).

One of the most striking Cirrhopetalums, in my opinion.

Bulbophyllum maxillare

This plant is not so rare.
The blooms stay open for about
a week, something that
most bulbos are sorely
lacking.
Lends itself very easily to
being photographed.
I love this guy.

like the D. anosmum, this is also destined for the farm.

More than even
the anosmum,
this will only deteriorate in
Manila.

I wonder why this D. anosmum
hasn't been as productive.
Maybe its needs better
accommodations?
I think I better bring
this to Amadeo.
The non-alba anosmums
are growing well there,
and I saw some
anosmums that are just
magnificent.
Ah, well.
There is always
next year.

a most favorite equestris

At some point,
I can boast
of having more than a
thousand Phalaenopsis
equestris plants. This particular plant is
clearly a favorite.
Pristine white, with
lemon yellow upper lip.
No pronounced reflex.
Pure delight.
If I may add, this
plant cost me an arm
and a leg.

Vanda luzonica

Endemic to the Mt. Pinatubo
area, sadly now all gone. The spectacular eruption in 1991 covered everything with
lahar.
This was acquired from one
of my favorite dealers,
who got it from
a small nursery in Bataan.
Family-owned, they have been
propagating Vanda luzonicas
for decades, and this is one of
their last plants.
I got several plants at that time
because I was pissed off by
Aling ******, who sold me
four plants that turned out
to be hybrids when
they bloomed. This one has
been in my front gate for the
past two years.
You bet I am deliriously happy
with it.

Dendrobium fairchildae

I have several plants at home
and while they appear
healthy, they are not blooming.

This was bloomed in Silang,
where it is cooler.
I would be relocating
my own plants
to Amadeo.

Erias are very interesting.
There is so much variety
in the genus.
Many of them bear
multiple tiny blooms on
long spikes.
Many times too the
blooms are white.
I like white flowers.
The starkness of the
crystalline petals against
a black background,
which is what I usually
use, accentuates the
texture and allure of the
simple blooms. Many
times, they are also
fragrant.

Tiny white fragrant orchids.

Perhaps many collectors
would dismiss them as
"botanicals".
What the hell.
They are pretty
in their own right
and fragrant, too.
Plus, they are easy
to grow.
And, very reasonably
priced. Because no one
else much likes them!

Incomparable color.

There is quite
no vanda like this.

The richness of the burgundy
hue, coupled with the waxy
thick substance makes for
very desirable parental traits.
Just wait for the nethouse
to be ready...
